A Letter from the Executive Director of SHS
Over the past decade it's been my honor to be a part of Strangers Helping Strangers and see it grow from a handful of food drives each year with one band into this incredible group of caring and selfless people doing food drives at hundreds of shows each year and working with hundreds of bands.
I would like to let everyone know that I notified our board of directors that I will be resigning from the Executive Director position and leaving SHS effective 8/1...
I want to thank all of those people who have over these past 10 years supported our efforts and helped us grow into what I have great faith will be an amazing organization for helping those in need.
I have great faith in this organization and the people who will take it into the new future and wish you all great luck and continued success.
I love you all and thank you from the very bottom of my heart.
Peace - Donald Pearson
Addendum: I am getting a lot of folks asking why?
- I have been running SHS for the last 10 years. I am beyond tired... I have given every once of energy and passion and my heart to this cause...
- We have a new, active and competent board of directors, new state filings and a new 501(c)(3) in process... As we move into this new chapter for SHS, we need a business person in the top spot. I am not that person even if I had anything left in me to give... I don't have the skills to run the new organization.
- It is time to let it go and let it flourish on it's own to continue to grow and help those in need everywhere there is music played...

Help - Financial Crisis!
Strangers Helping Strangers has been a fan supported and out of pocket organization for every day of the past 15 years.
--As we've grown from a handful of food drives a year with one band through dozens and now hundreds of food drives each year, we've never asked any agency for support. We've always just reached in our pockets and covered the printing of fliers, signs, posters and other printing costs, canopies, tables, lamps, pens, travel, etc... with the help from the fans who want to help here and there.
--As you can expect, we all who are supporting this effort live pretty close to the edge. Occasionally we experience a catastrophe and have to scramble to cover an unforeseen cost and still keep everything running.
--A couple of weeks ago we lost another junker that was critical to our onward mission of running food drives at concerts and supporting the local communities. We need to raise $1800 in the next 10 days to put a replacement vehicle on the road, or we will be scrambling to cover some major food drive events...
--Please help! Every single donation goes to getting the van. As always all donations go straight toward running things at SHS. Paying for phones, computers, printing, etc... Not a penny goes toward any salaries or to any person.
--Please click the Donate button on this page and do whatever you can to help out. As always, everything helps. We appreciate everyone's support.
Thank you & Peace - Strangers Helping Strangers
